In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying, recent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. John goes on to say something so important as to baptism not only of water as he was doing but something even greater and more powerful. In verse 11 of Matthew 3 John stated that , I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
We see that after Jesus’ resurrection, after he was glorified he breathed on the disciples and said to them “Receive the Holy Spirit” this reminds me of God when He created man, The Bible says He breathed the breath of life into his nostrils; and man became a living being. Yet, Jesus before departing made a promise to the disciples that the were to wait in Jerusalem until they received power when the Holy Spirit would come upon them. The Holy Spirit is a spirit of power and fire.
Jesus wants us to be clothed with power from on high, it should be our desire to be filled with the Spirit of the Lord, the Spirit of wisdom and power. That fire that burns deep inside. My prayer is that each one of us would ask the father for the Holy Sprit, for the power that comes along and so that having the Sprit of God within us would be having him moving and working through us.
